My Woodworking Journey: From Hobby to Custom Creations
My first taste of woodworking came during my 7th and 8th grade back in 1972. In 7th grade, I crafted a key lamp, while in 8th grade, I made a wall clock. Remarkably, I still possess both items, which hold a special place in my heart and serve as a reminder of my early ventures into woodworking.
My journey with woodworking took a hiatus until 1990 when I moved into my first home. It was here that I rejuvenated my passion by building my home office. This endeavor was just the beginning, as it led me to create various pieces of furniture for my daughter and home. Each project honed my skills and deepened my love for the craft.
One of my most exciting ventures was when I began making cornhole boards. This hobby took an innovative turn when my son went off to college. Inspired by the need for versatile and fun tailgating equipment, I came up with the idea of a combination cornhole board and beer pong table, which I aptly named the "Tailgate Trio." This multifunctional set included a cornhole game, beer pong setup, and a tailgate table. I built these sets for years, alongside various other projects inspired by Pinterest and Etsy.
It wasn’t until I started creating American flags that I found my true passion. There was something profoundly satisfying about crafting these symbols of national pride, and soon, my flags were being shipped to customers in numerous states. Over time, I developed several variations, including coat racks and concealed cabinets, all designed with the iconic flag motif.

The urge to enhance my flag designs further led me to acquire my first laser engraver. This tool opened a new world of possibilities, allowing me to create my wooden stars and intricate engravings. As my proficiency with the laser grew, I expanded my repertoire to include holiday ornaments and pet memorials. I also ventured into making multi-level city skylines, complete with their baseball and/or football stadiums.
My work caught the attention of my former company, and I had the honor of crafting their annual department awards. These projects allowed me to explore new techniques and take on custom requests. I am always eager to take on new challenges and bring my customers' visions to life.
If you have a custom idea in mind, please do not hesitate to reach out. I would be delighted to discuss your project and work together to create something truly unique and special.
My woodworking journey has been one of continuous learning and growth. From school projects to complex custom creations, each piece I craft carries a part of my story and my passion for this timeless art form.
